The hallmarks of a Edmund Rice School are care, especially for those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged in any way, and action for social and ecological justice.

We place great value on ensuring your son becomes a responsible and conscientious adult and plays a part in his local community. Through our extra curriculum programme we enhance our students’ opportunities for personal development. We will strengthen their commitment to values such as generosity, charity, responsibility and respect for others in their community.

Charity Work

Zambian Immersion Programme, C.B.S, The Green C.B.S
The Green is proud to be involved in the Zambian Immersion Programme and supporting the work of the Christian Brothers in Africa.

Over the last four years the school community has raised funds which have enabled the Brothers to renovate up to ten Primary Schools and run a training centre for young adults. During the course of the Programme we have embarked on two trips to Zambia, bringing sixteen students to work and live among the Zambian people.

The Zambian Immersion Project has drawn Christian values to the fore in our school and has further deepened in us the core values of Edmund Rice.

The students are very actively involved in local charity work and fundraising each year.

School Trips

The Green offers students a rich and diverse educational experience through the arrangement of school trips to highlight the awareness of different cultures and values.

Each year second year students have the opportunity to participate in a school trip.

Each year fourth year students also have the option of travelling abroad and currently the transition year class travel to Barcelona, Spain.

The Career Guidance department also arrange visits to Ireland’s universities and third level colleges.

Other trips and excursions have included visits to Dublin, Cork, ecology and geography fieldtrips to Killarney, visits to theatres in Cork and locally here in Siamsa Tíre. Other projects have brought our students to the London Globe Theatre and even as far as both San Francisco and New York.
