TY Students Complete 8-Week Climate Literacy Programme
Ms K. Tobin’s Geography Transition Year class has successfully completed an 8-week Climate Literacy Programme in collaboration with Education for Sustainability.
Throughout the programme, students engaged in hands-on and practical learning activities that highlighted how small actions can have a meaningful impact. These included sewing skills to reduce clothing waste, exploring the impacts of fast fashion, and learning how to make more sustainable and conscious consumer choices.
Students also:
Created bird nests for installation around the school grounds to support local biodiversity
Examined the issue of plastic waste and its environmental impact
Learned about food miles and the importance of choosing local produce
Mentored first-year students, sharing their knowledge and promoting sustainability awareness within the school community
A huge thank you to Billy Jo for delivering such an engaging and informative session, and to Education for Sustainability for their support in delivering climate literacy education.
